COMPARATIVE ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF SEVEN DISINFECTANTS MARKETTED IN LAGOS AGAINST CLINICAL BACTERIA ISOLATES

نویسندگان

چکیده

Antimicrobial effects of seven disinfectants were studied against a wide range clinical bacterial isolates using Agar dilution method to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). The active compounds according their manufacturer D1-(Chloroxylenol 4.8% w/v), D2-(Chlorhexidinegluconate 0.3g and Centrimide 3.0% D3- (Centrimide w/v Chlorhexidinegluconate 0.3g), D4- (Dichloroxylenol 2% D5- (Sodium hypochlorite 3.85% m/v) D6- (Halogenated phenol 0.68% Sodium salicylate 0.052%). test organisms Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus Salmonella enterica serotype Typhi. MICs ranges from 0.003%v/v 2.5%v/v. This study showed that some tested have strong bactericidal effect bacteria while others less effective. Results also revealed D2 which is made centrimide has greatest antibacterial activity. Likewise, are not only dependent on types disinfectant but concentrations

The in vitro activity of seven quinolone derivatives against 100 clinical isolates of Clostridium difficile was determined. CI934 was the most active, inhibiting 90% of the strains at 4 micrograms/ml and 100% at 8 micrograms/ml. Ofloxacin and ciprofloxacin had moderate activity (16 and 32 micrograms/ml) whereas enoxacin, pefloxacin, norfloxacin, and nalidixic acid had poor activity (128 microgr...
